Federation see themselves as the Allied powers while they see Zeon as the Axis powers, while on the other hand Zeon see themselves as the american colonies to the Federation’s Europe. The whole point of the story is that prejudice and hate will tend to become self-fulfilling prophecies, and until people stop demonizing each other, fear and pain will continue to spread through their hearts.
Just because a message is corny doesn’t make it wrong.
And then Zeon made their fears WELL PLACED. Yes they did horrible things but that doesn’t excuse anyone DOING THOSE SAME ACTS IN RETRUN. On top of that Zeon basically wanted Earth to DIE and VANISH. They’re every bit as fucking corrupt and cruel as the Federation but everyone turns a blind eye because they don’t want to admit they like Space Nazis.
Colony 30, 25, Granada, 18, 21, plus the development of the RX-78GP02A, would have words with you about how the federation was just as willing to kill off entire colonies for so much as having riots in them. This isn’t mentioning how Laplace’s Box would’ve revealed that most of the conflicts were at the least partly fault of the Federation’s former heads not wanting to give spacenoids a place in government.
Unicorn tried so hard to make it seem like a grey situation, too. And it never worked. How many genocides did Zeon try by then? 3 attempted and 1 or 2 successful I think.
Zeon died when Deikun died. Whatever the Principality is… it’s not whatever Deikun envisoned…. that includes the later more violent and perverted versions as well. Therefore Zeon can go crawl in a ditch and DIE.
