I kinda understand that, but something about it still kinda bugs me, I’m not sure why.
Also, this means we’ll never see Fluttershy in cute Halloween costumes ever again. :P
(Though, it’s likely they won’t have anymore Halloween/Nightmare Night episodes” anyways.)
Like I pointed out elsewhere, its not about “I don’t want to spend time with my friends or celebrate the holiday”, its “I’d love to enjoy this holiday with you guys, but since I don’t enjoy being scared or seeing you guys scared, I can’t, sorry. I’m happy I at least tried it, though.”
I’m not sure I know entirely either. I feel kinda alone that I’m the only one who seems to feel this way about the episode’s ending/moral. Might be the only moral in the show I felt kinda disappointed with to be frank.
I might never know why you feel this way about it. But it’s okay to think that way.
I understand that, but I don’t know, as I said it just felt like it had to many conflicting messages/implications regardless. Still kinda bugs me for some reason.
She did overcome her fear though, that’s good and is completely fine with others enjoying something she doesn’t like.
I don’t know, I guess I’m the only one who took issue with it. It kinda came off like it was ok “being an anti-social shut-in,” or something rather then “it’s ok to not participate in something sometimes.” The way Fluttershy put it, she made it sound like she was never going to participate ever again. If she didn’t want to this time, but would consider it next year, it would’ve come off better.
Plus if she got over her fear of Nightmare Night she could still of participated in the “non-scary” aspects of the holiday like getting candy, socializing, and playing games. She doesn’t have to shun the whole holiday just ‘cause she doesn’t like scaring others. She doesn’t have too.
I’m not saying she has to participate, she didn’t have to if she doesn’t want to, but she could be missing out something very fun/social, and she tends to do that sometimes due to her own cowardliness/shyness, rather then it just being a mere “choice.” It also kinda contradicts Pinkie’s remark in the last Nightmare Night/Halloween episode of “Sometimes it’s fun to be scared.”
So it just came out with a lot of conflicting messages/implications to me.
Funny thing is I never had a problem with other more controversial morals/episodes like “Mare Do-Well,” “Spike at Your Service,” or “Feeling Pinkie-Keen.”
(Still, don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed the “Scare Master” episode, I just didn’t like the ending.)
I don’t think the message was PC at all. She “CHOSE to not partake in such holiday but was completely fine with others doing so.@Beau Skunky
I really see nothing wrong with that message.
See? I can criticize the show? :P
