The Imperial one did, yes. My friend did four runs, and ended up in the tier where he got 130 million credits. Like with you, I couldn’t participate, as I was still out exploring n shiet.
Wow. Do “we need more battleships” goals really pay that well? I’ve been in the deep and missed all this.
I’ll probably go out exploring again after I get the shits with the new content from the Guardians. If another deliver cheap crap to earn a gajillion credits from helping the Empire build more warships community goal comes around, I’ll probably look into fitting an Anaconda for deep space exploration; but as it stands, I’ll finish refitting my Asp explorer for the task, and outfitting my Asp combater for community goals/doing crap for the engineers.

Heh. I know that feel. My trading and bounty hunting stent didn’t last too long before the deep blue called me back, though. It’s nice. Most stupid problems in the world come from people living on top of each other. Go out to where there’s nobody around, and then everything is suddenly reasonable. And quiet. And peaceful. And amazing.
Still look forward to maybe doing some bounty hunting with a Python I may be able to afford on return…
Ugh, I think I’ve had enough exploration for the time being, having just arrived back in Alioth from a two-month sojourn exploring nebulae an hour or so ago. I’ll probably just stick to community goals and getting an exploration-geared engineer to upgrade my FSD until The Guardians (of Harmony) comes out.
I mean, you can go exploring with a 15 LY jump range, but it’s not exactly the most ideal situation, and you certainly won’t be going to Beagle Point…
I guess Sag. A. is still doable, but it’ll take you a very long time with that range. Try an Asp explorer rig with some-odd 34 LY range and tell me how that feels in comparison :p
A long time in a little cockpit, to boot. Cobra and Asp at least have a door in the back that implies some back rooms to make the really long journey endurable :q
Fun fact; The Hauler can make a surprisingly good explorer vessel for just a few million… You can even add a surface vehicle hanger and still get around 24-25 LY.

>Implying fighters are incapable of exploring
I can go exploring in my Vulture. I have fuel scoop and scanner in it. Only downside is, I can’t have any cargo.
>Suggesting he should explore in a fighter
:P
>not realising fighters are superior
Multipurpose ships are made to be able to do pretty much everything, but that means that by trying to do everything good, you end up doing everything either badly or only just good enough. The Cobra Mk. III is a good ship for beginners though.
Haha 117 is a very significant number to me. Also cause Halo.
Ayyyy
Haha, I wish. I’d pay for that mod.
I use an XBox controller on my setup, tweaked very slightly to allow me to adjust when I’m rolling and yawing, I find vertical and horizontal slip actually help me in combat. While I’d like a HOTAS, my setup’s not ideal for that.
Hey, it works, this is one of my favorite images of your set.
Ooooh, I think I see what you’re saying. No, that’s his actual tulpa, not a “fictional” one :q
I think what you were getting at is why make a tulpa in-setting?
As for space travel like that, yeah, I’m workin’ on that part, though Xp
Neither do we have space travel like this.
“Make tulpa, travel galaxy.”
vs
“Make tulpe travel galaxy.”
Second one sounds a little like ponynapping XD
It already matches her eyes.
@CobaltTheMadMage
Because we don’t have entertainment AI’s like those IRL :p
@Ebalosus
Eh, I like it, and even kind of like the lack of depth - it sort of makes it more of a blank canvas for me to imagine there’s a pony in the other chair with, heh.

Honestly, that’s fair enough; and don’t get me wrong, I like ED. It’s just that as a big setting and atmosphere guy, I like my settings to have some depth, character, and personality, otherwise I have trouble getting invested in the game. ED to me, suffers from a case of “A mile wide but only an inch deep”, and as of writing, feels more like a graphical iteration of both previous entries and Noctis, rather than an advancement of the series. Once Horizons comes out (which I get for free because I got the premium beta), hopefully the game will be a bit better fleshed out.
As it stands, Star Citizen looks like it’ll be the game that really moves the genre forward.
ABCD all seem to be about the same thing: procedurally generated world. I’m not too upset by it, though; I find it more like real life in a freeing kind of way: you write your own story. It just means there’s no railroad tracks to follow, a la’ The Stanley Parable.
Also, I haven’t really noticed much of a problem with the “same loadouts that everyone uses.” Some people think shield generators are a waste of mass on an explorer build, or a slot that could be used for cargo on transport builds, others prefer to have them, some like to save credits on using a medium range discovery scanner and try spotting parallax on some “stars” to find more distant planets, others use the really expensive scanner, I use a ship that actually has slightly lower stats for exploration because I find the flight deck far more cozy (it’s actually this one in the picture here, heh), etc. etc etc.
In truth, ED does an absolutely excellent job of customization in that regard. And all I’ve talked about is exploration, never mind other professions which warrant completely different builds (What weapon types and mounts do you prefer? When trading, do you like to try to evade interdictions, and risk running without good shields and engines, or have those goods, or submit to interdictions then run for faster FSD cooldown, or mount some weapons and fight back, or just turn over some cargo to the pirate, etc. Etc. And that’s just one facet of trading).
So yeah.
I agree that it’s a great game, though my issues with it are more due to content and gamey-ness than actual gameplay for the most part.
See here for a more in-depth criticism, in that a lot of what I said also applies to ED
