Sorry, You are right. The discussion have nothing to do with the image. Sometimes i can’t just help myself when my bullshit-meter is activated by some of the comments. I’m triggered by it like tublerina.

Okay people, can we stop this? I made a comment late at night, tired, that really didn’t mean much more than a joke. Can we get back to talking about this comic or just stop?

“but none of them are ever going to happen because IT IS A SHOW FOR PRE-PUBESCENT CHILDREN AND DISCORD IS AN OLD DUDE. No male character who isn’t handsome and young is ever going to be canonically paired with anyone unless he’s introduced that way.

So, you know, either quit shipping him with anyone or recognize that no ships will ever be canon and enjoy them anyway, otherwise you’ll be disappointed. The show is Friendship is Magic, not Romance is Magic. Discord is popular, but little girls don’t perceive him as someone attractive who could be a romantic partner for anyone they identify with. He’s more of a fun uncle, and I can tell you from personal experience of being a little girl, little girls do not like it when their fun uncle pairs up with someone. I was insanely jealous of my uncle’s girlfriend because he wasn’t paying attention to me when he was with her, and trust me, it was not because I was romantically interested in my uncle. (OMG no.)”

That is literally just your opinion and in no way reflect the future of this series. Little girls are also not interested in pregnancy and marriage yet there are or they are going to show episodes about it. You must be an oldtimer if you can’t see that little girls are the one asking about relationships between characters and most of them ship Lyra with BonBon. Not the bronies. Shippings in Equestria Girls and comics were made just for them. The recurring pairings are as much likely to happen in the future as the idea of new alicorn princess. Shipping is also something that Hasbro would do as it create opportunity for new toys and new characters (like the future Princess Skyla). So please stop talking out of your ass and watch other “kids” shows like Kim Possible, Hey Arnold and Last Airbender or heck even the previous generations of MLP called “My Little Pony Tales” if you can’t believe that kids can handle romance.

And i don’t care about “het” or whatever is now used to describe the people who just follow the canon story and development.
If you are going to make up stories about Cadance falling in love with Tirek, then there are going to people who question your interest in the show and ability to ignore entire plot point of her getting married with Shining Armor.

Says a guy who appears to be unaware that 80% of all the fanfic that has ever been written featured male/male ships at a time when that was about as likely to ever be canon as a meteor hitting the earth.

No, ships do not have to be something that could become canonical to be good ships. The pairing that more or less invented fanfic is Kirk/Spock. People took Gene Roddenberry’s statement, in Kirk’s words, that he and Spock are just friends, from the novelization of the first movie, and turned it around to mean they were totally boinking. This was in 1980.

You het shippers and your blithe self-assurance that your ships could theoretically be canonical and therefore you get utterly hysterical over hints of canon or non-canon annoy the crap out of me. Why can’t you just enjoy a fanwork without getting worked up over whether it represents something that could actually happen in the show or not?

I like het ships too, better than I like m/m ships in fact, but MLP is the first show I’ve been into with enough good female characters that have interesting interactions with my favorite male characters that I can have a het ship. Exactly 100% of my previous favorite ships could never possibly have been canon because the world was, and still is, too homophobic. Picard/Q was never gonna happen and neither was Magneto/Xavier. Celestia/Discord is like a combination of both ships and also het, so it’s awesome, but why would I care if it can’t happen canonically when none of my other favorite ships could? And Discord/Fluttershy and Discord/Twilight are also really cool het ships, and this is one of the first fandoms I’ve been in where I can have multiple ships for the same character and they all seem equally valid characterization-wise and all interesting, but none of them are ever going to happen because IT IS A SHOW FOR PRE-PUBESCENT CHILDREN AND DISCORD IS AN OLD DUDE. No male character who isn’t handsome and young is ever going to be canonically paired with anyone unless he’s introduced that way.

People who ship reccuring pairings will develop expectations for them to get closer. It’s a normal thing. Although 99% of fandom ships are destined to remain unnoticed and forever in fanfiction, there are some that might become more relevant in the future. Like Cheerilee and Big Mac might get a an episode or a comic that will add more suggestive implications. LyraBon also belong to this category of ships along with fluttercord and sparity. Even if just a joke, Larson intentionally made them look like a couple. 100th episode and Equestria Girls made them relevant to the canon, not just fimfiction. There might be a writer in DHX or IDW who will one day treat them seriously.

@RektPony
You mean people will stop posting fanart and fanfics of a ship if there’s no chance of it happening in canon? Not everyone ships for the same reasons boy.

@Alara Rogers
‘Tis why I find myself aggravated by both sides of the LyrBon debate. One side refuses to believe the ship to be anything but confirmed canon, despite the fact that would be an incredibally stupid idea for a franchise like MLP. Too much politics involved, and that’s without getting into the numerous foreign markets they’d be banned from. The opposite side on the other hand seems to believe the writers and artists are these naive, innocent, oblivious children who do everything with the purest of intentions, and all these dirty Bronies are seeing things that cannot possibly be there. The staff aren’t stupid. They know what they’re doing.

@Alara Rogers
There’s no point in shipping if you take it for granted that your ship is not going to happen. It’s like hoping that person X survive Game of Thrones but on the other hand already expecting him to die in the next episode.

@Darth Sonic
Your perspective is refreshing, but unfortunately is shared by very few other commenters. In particular I’ve observed that those who really really want Fluttershy and Discord to become a romantic relationship can become almost vitriolic in defense of what they want to see and against pairings they don’t want to see.

I’m quite aware that there will never be any more than mild ship teases, and I like it that way. I’ve noted a good number of other commenters, however, who do things like observe that Discord was jealous of Fluttershy having another friend and go “TOTALLY IN LOVE!” because of course Discord couldn’t possibly be immature enough to genuinely be jealous of a platonic friendship because it’s not like he has the emotional stability of a six year old or anything… oh wait.

I knew he was going to cheat in the card game. I just didn’t expect it would be as obvious as holding cards behind his back, not even with his tail which would at least make it less obvious.

Yippee another newly developed relationship with lots of potential that the proper show will never, ever bother to delve into.

@Darth Sonic
I don’t know. Whitley and McCarthy on the FlutterCord train might shake things up. I would never believe that they would actually make an episode about Cadance being pregnant but here we go.

@Alara Rogers
You just took that way to seriously. No MLP ship will ever go anywhere, thus any “ship teases” we talk about are simpl the authors acknowledging the idea of the relationship. Winks and nudges of “hey guys, wouldn’t that be cool?” not a trail of relationship breadcrumbs for us to follow.

So in that context, yes, “Fluttershy and the kids” is huge ship teasing.
Alara Rogers

@Gefreiter
And it was a nightmare. Not really the best shipping fuel when your “dream” of being married with kids is part of a general dream of being trapped in a nightmarish job doing something you hate.

The one where he was playing with the CMC and Fluttershy was better “ship fuel” inasmuch as it was obviously about affection and caring, and he described it as the worst of the nightmares because he’s afraid of screwing it up. But that one was much more compatible with his real-life relationships with all of them, so it falls more strongly into friendship with Fluttershy than romance.

He’s also not emotionally willing to admit he loves anyone yet.
RektPony

@Gefreiter
If the writer referenced the comics then at least he would managed to create a good base for LunaCord in one episode. Other than that he would obviously need more episodes.
RektPony

@Gefreiter
FlutterCord seems very one-sided thanks to Smooze episode. If there was a clever LunaCord shipper in the writing staff for the show, he would find a way to navigate Discord toward Luna in a single episode. But that is just a theory.
