The only place that matters.
Plus he was talking about Shout Factory, the US DVD rights holder. The DVD rights belong to other companies across the world.
in the us maybe
You know the first 4 seasons are already on DVD, right?
We may have to wait until after season 6 is done before Shout! will release the series on DVD. Season 6 will probably be the final season for FIM. Hasbro Studios is already working on an animated movie based on the Fim series so Season 6 will probably most likely be the final season for Fim. They already went past episode 100 so the series will most likely end very very soon.
I didn’t know the science back then, but I’ve learned it since.
Hah. You know the science behind that, though?
Cathode Ray Tubes are kinda like crazy ion cannons. They shoot electrons, the path of which are deflected by magnets, onto the screen in a particular pattern to generate the image. So your magnet interfered with the path of the electrons. Iirc, they seem to interfere with red the most - pulling red off screen so the other two colors remain, although a bit distorted, leaving a cyan color.
It’s cool stuff.
Yes, actually. When I was young I had this toy. It was a blue platform with 4 magnetic plates, and you had all these metal sticks and washers and stuff you could stack to build things. Turns out the plates were magnetic because they had these two thick black magnets between them (the plates were L shaped, and the magnet went between them). Being a kid, I started playing with the magnets. One day I put one in the corner of the screen, leaving it permanently discolored. Which sucked, because it was my main TV for at least a few more years (and it was the TV in my bedroom for about 7 years after I did that)
That sounds amazing. Ever take a powerful magnet to a CRT screen?
I got bored one day. I hooked up my hard drive to a media box, hooked that up to a VCR, and recorded Equestria Girls on a VHS tape. I just wish I had a CRT TV to watch it on.
Long live the VCR? XD
I think the higher quality is worth the money. At least, if we didn’t have 1080p iTunes rips available to us.
What are you talking about? Nobody is saying that they’re having trouble playing the Blu-rays; they’re saying that the Blu-rays don’t exist.
@40kponyguy
This is the problem I have with Blu-rays. They have a much better picture, and much better sound, but that extra quality just isn’t worth paying $35 or more when the DVD is $20. This is exactly why home video is dying. Blu-rays haven’t come down in price since they released, like, ten years ago.
Still miffed that the UK release of ‘The Last Roundup’ has the re-dubbed Derpy in it.
One of the lads at my local game club did a ripped version of the whole of season 1 and 2, and the original version of that episode is on there.
Looks like I need to hang on to that copy then instead of just keeping the official releases.
(The ripped disks tend to scratch easily so I wanted proper copies of them).
As for blu-ray? Never saw the point myself. Paying half again (or more in some cases) as much for a film/dvd and what do you get?
Sharper picture. That’s about it.
If you’re too poor to do either, just torrent the damn things.
I just like how the DVDs/BDs look on the shelf, mostly. Hell, unless there were bonus features on them I wanted to rip, I’d like not even open them.
Same. I like having them on digital file. But I also want to support the creators of the show / reward behavior I want to see continued, so there’s that. And then I don’t have any moral qualms about getting the digital files by whatever means, though in using torrent sources I would be semi-directly supporting less morally sound traffic…
I really love it when they put a normal “digital copy” disc with the blu-ray. Or that download code. But then because of crappy internet the download fails and I can’t re-submit a ticket to download >.<
>2010+5
do you think that they will ever learn?
at least they are trying with the good quality bg ponies
I’d probably buy them purely for collecting, since I’d prefer to watch my 1080p iTunes rips (if only because I don’t need to fumble with discs to watch them).
Me and a lot of other people?
To those who make ponies:

To the torrent ship, lads!!
