Update 2: Turns out I was wrong.

“I asked both of my daughters, and my wife, if they’ve heard of the song you mention, and they haven’t. Because of this, and for other reasons below, it will not be a project that we will be initiating in the very near future.

The reason we did a translation of “Over the Rainbow” was because it’s a song we all knew and loved, and also because we knew that there are many millions of other people who love the song. The reason we did a translation of “Anything You Can Do” into Yiddish (which can also be found on YouTube), was because we knew it would be a great comic vehicle for the Sisters. And in that instance, I took great liberties with the specifics, adapting it for what is true and relevant to the Sisters. I’ve done translations of other songs we knew, for other practical reasons (like the American children songs “Hokey-Pokey”, “If You’re Happy and You Know It”, “I’m a Little Teapot”, and more, as a way of my children learning better Yiddish.)

Apart from those songs (which I know) that I’ve taken the initiative to translate, others have commissioned me to do translations for them: “My Man”, “Speak Softly, Love” [The theme from “The Godfather”], the “Habanera” from “Carmen”, and excerpts from two Puccini arias.

Translation aside, our elder daughter goes to university, and is a few hours away. And so getting them together in the same room for a rehearsal is a great challenge, no matter what, even for a (paying) concert in Rio de Janeiro, such as the one we had a few weeks ago (during the summer vacation). It would be hard to justify the efforts of getting them together for a rehearsal for a gratis recording session of a song that neither of them knows, or has ever heard of (and therefore no close friends of theirs have ever spoken about it or played it for them).”

I’m quite surprised they hadn’t even heard of something ‘that’ mainstream..

If a music video will be uploaded, I’ll post it right here on Derpibooru.

Update: The Schaechter Sisters’ musical director, Binyumen Schaechter, got back to me with this (clarifications in brackets):

“Regarding your suggestion that Di Shekhter-tekhter [The Schaechter Sisters] record this other song that you like [the MLP:FiM theme] - I’ll mention it to them, and if it’s a song to which they respond (in English), we’ll get a truly accurate translation.”

(Temma Schaechter performed the [unofficial] Yiddish version of “Let it Go”).

Wikipedia: She worked with the Yiddish Theater; though she did not know the Yiddish language, she memorized her lines phonetically.

There was a huge immigration wave from Russia to israel in the 90’s. Around a million people to a country that at the time counted 6 million. So now there are many Russian speakers in israel.

My gradparents from my mother side spoke Yiddish as their main languge, my mother can understand and speak it, but I never learned it. Yiddish started dying as a lnaguge when Hebrew started gaining popularity as a common languge in israel and the jewish world.

“יידיש שפראכיגע בראניס” means “Yiddish Speaking Bronies”.

I linked to mlp-episodes.tk on Kave Shtiebel (I’m known there as “רעינבאו דעש” (Rainbow Dash)), and I wonder if anyone there could become יידיש שפראכיגע בראניס after seeing the episodes.
