I see… my misunderstanding of what you was saying. And I agree, the piece is fantastic in the level of detail.
Maybe he went with a Smith & Wesson design, because he knew how to draw it, and figured it would be better to have a non-canon design done extremely well than an attempted guess at the canon design done poorly?

And at times, laziness does not win, and the art still gets done.
Besides, even with the revolver being more fit for a Minotaur or Gryphon, I would definitely not call the artist “lazy” with how detailed this work is.

It’s a common thing among artists because they all know what a revolver looks like.
But nobody knows what a revolver made for a miniature horse’s mouth looks like and it can be hard to imagine something like that.

In the end, laziness wins and art gets done, even if it’s not 100% accurate.

One detail I have noticed about this drawing, and many others for that matter. In Fo:E, Kkat described Little Macintosh as being designed to be held by a pony’s mouth. About half get it right, and half seem to just pluck in a regular revolver of human design, and paint three apples on the grip. (though I did find someone who did I nice set of Little Macintosh grips for a Colt Anaconda)
