blah blah blah stop disagreeing with me because it’s my opinion you people are jumping down my throat and being mean to me because you’re providing evidence from the show that directly contradicts what I’m saying

Please. If you’re going to say something like that, expect people to disagree with you.

Also, I love how you’re going to joke about the death of a character and then try so hard to provide reasons why she’s a bitch only to still pull that “Come on guise, its a show about camdy colored horses” bit.

There was no room to fairly doubt the Fire Ruby scene. It was clearly shown that she was struggling to keep her feelings to herself because she didn’t want to take something that was so important to Spike, but he decided to give it to Rarity because he could see that she how much she liked it and wanted to make her happy. Saying “it was all an act” imposes an unreasonable standard on her, and raises the question of what could be taken at face value, if her biting her own leg out of nervousness couldn’t.

Campaign? HARDY HAR HAR. You guys are the ones that fucking jumped down my throat when I shared my opinion that was barely even connected to all this BS. I pointed out one episode, and you guys were just like “Oh my god! He’s attacking my waifu!” So what I don’t like Rarity. Get over it. I don’t hate her, she has her good moments and I stated that.

@ghostfacekiller39

Two things.

First: Okay cool, thanks for sharing that. But the fact that Larson had to explain it at all means that people STILL got confused by the scene and it could easily be misconstrued as a manipulative and slimy thing of her to do.

Second: I never for one second said that the rest of the mane six were completely exempt from this. They have flaws, thats what makes them good characters. But it was kinda hard to bring that up when people were trying to choke me out with a bunch of text from the show. Words from a script, and images on a screen play out differently. Scenes can be interepreted differently by each person. I don’t care for Rarity, therefore I see the worst in her. I dislike her snobbish personality, and those things STILL don’t make it okay that she forced her little sister to carry her shit up a mountain because she wanted to do something fun with her. Even if she manipulated Rarity into doing it. She learned it from the best, as we’ve seen from Rarity flirting with that nerdy stallion to get the last thing of asparagus from him.

So just let it go people. I wasn’t attacking anyone, I was stating a comment and got slammed with some hate. Its pretty fucking cool of you guys to be so friendly. I’m glad we had this talk.

I wasn’t looking for an argument. I made a joke and was confronted with this crap I couldn’t give two shits about. But you better believe I’m going to defend myself when I’m being accused of spewing bullshit? Its a show about multi-colored horses. Come on you guys… You take this crap too seriously and you become toxic.

Regardless, I’ll repeat again. I wasn’t trying to start drama. I wasn’t trying to bait anyone. You guys made your points, I agree that Ghostface had a point there with the Larson thing. So stop getting so mad about something so absolutely dumb and pointless. My opinion stays, and thats just my preference. I don’t like her, thats all there is to it. Scene interpretations are up to who is viewing them.

In the end, I hope you all sincerely have a good day. I understand your complaints on my statement. And in reality, thats cool. You can all keep your opinions on her. Its just pretty dumb you couldn’t let one little thing go because someone had a different opinion than you.

The fact that I gave you an entire list of generous things she does and then you come back with two or three things to say she’s a bitch and then accuse me of selectively choosing dialogue is absolutely delicious.

Nevertheless, you got a good chunk of what you’re trying to use to paint a cartoon unicorn as being a bitch wrong, so I’ll explain this to you as well.

“Purposely using her charm to take the Fire Ruby from Spike.”

The writer of the episode himself, M.A. Larson, even said that this was bullshit.

“Giving Spike the smallest possible gem as payment for him taking care of Opal.”

I mean, unless we watched entirely different episodes, I remember Spike gave that gem to the CMCs and look at exactly how much shit they bought with that single gem you’re trying to say is small and pathetic. This is working under the assumption that size is the only thing that matters when it comes to monetary value and that’s wrong, judging by how much cash a bunch of little girls got off of it.

“ Instead of caring about the safety of Equestria in Dragonshy, she instead was more worried about getting her greedy little hooves on the treasure.”

Yeahh, characters that let their own desires get the better of them and their element from time to time is terrible. Thank god none of the other mane 6 do this though, right?

“Forced her little sister to carry her and all of her stuff up a friggen mountain!”

Before we got painting Sweetie Belle as a tragic victim here, we need to remember that she also manipulated Rarity into going on that trip in the first place when she said she was busy and didn’t want to. Rarity isn’t stupid and she probably knew what Sweetie was doing, so I’ve always viewed that as getting a bit of sisterly payback as opposed to Rarity being a selfish cunt. This is backed up pretty well by all of the other interactions Rarity had with Sweetie in that episode - pulling her close during the campfire stories and running the race with her in spite of not being too fond of physical activity, all of that jazz.

So yeahh, I still think that you’re completely full of shit.

Rarity didn’t charm Spike’s gem away from him… this has been confirmed by the show staff via someone asking for clarification on Twitter. That scene in SoME when she bats her eyelashes seductively and flips her hair is supposed to be from Spike’s highly skewed perspective; in reality all Rarity did was calmly express interest in the gem, and Spike, being infatuated as he is, saw it the way he saw it… we had Spike’s perspective for those few frames.

As for giving Spike a tiny gem, you make it sound as though she hasn’t shared her carts of gems with him before in the past, which we know she has. We also know she uses them in her work so perhaps she didn’t have many to spare at the time (it’s not like she planned on needing to pay Spike with gems for anything; he solicited her, asking to watch Opal). As for Sweetie hauling her supplies on the camping trip, we see Sweetie eagerly offering and running to help Rarity however she can throughout that episode; it was not as though she was miserable doing it, and Rarity was probably happy to let her keep going seeing as how Sweetie had guilted her into going on a trip she had no personal interest to begin with (in other words, the only reason Rarity went camping was because Sweetie wanted to go, so in payment Sweetie was scrambling to work and make it up to her, and Rarity let her). She did plenty to comfort and care for Sweetie in turn during the trip, in addition to making time to be there for her at all.

You people clearly don’t understand that no matter how much you defend her. She’s still responsible for doing some of the rudest crap to her friends… Purposely using her charm to take the Fire Ruby from Spike. Giving Spike the smallest possible gem as payment for him taking care of Opal. Instead of caring about the safety of Equestria in Dragonshy, she instead was more worried about getting her greedy little hooves on the treasure. Forced her little sister to carry her and all of her stuff up a friggen mountain!

You can selectively choose dialogue from the show all you like, but she’s been on both sides of the spectrum. She’s been generous, and she’s been a huge bitch too.

From Vocabulary.com:

Generosity is a quality that’s a lot like unselfishness — someone showing generosity is happy to give to or share time, money, food, or whatever with others.

Generosity is a quality — like honesty and patience — that we all probably wish we had more of. When you show generosity, you might give away things or money or put others before yourself. But generosity is about more than cash and stuff. When you’re forgiving and gentle to people, you show generosity of spirit. If you give others help or credit, that shows generosity. The world would certainly be a better place if more people showed generosity to others.

Transcript from the episode

Twilight Sparkle: You said if we skipped dinner at the Far-Afield Tavern, you’d order a meal for us while we keep working.
Rarity: Don’t fret. It’ll be here in an hour. That’s not going to be a problem, is it?

Rarity: There you all are! I can’t believe it, I thought you went back home!
Twilight Sparkle: We missed the show because we overslept. Suri told us you lost. I’m really sorry.
Rarity: I lost? You know what? I don’t even care. I’m just happy you’re all still here after how I treated you. Taking advantage of your friendship the way I did. How could you ever see past it?

Ha ha ha XD Yeah… Sometimes I feel that way too… Its sad when the element of Generosity can be so ungenerous that she almost refuses to feed her friends or let them sleep while they’re practically doing slave labor for her.
