Not really, it seems it was designed with allowing wings of two different colors be attached at the same time in mind & a top area plug in for that wouldn’t really be feasible for the size of the those things, as far as I can tell. At least when they’re mass produced as they are. Especially with how they’re designed to each be sold as two halves on a sprue.

I’m pretty sure some of those hair parts are intentionally really gaudy. You know, for people who want to go “all out” or whatever.  
This shows mane stuff at relatively normal levels.

They don’t necessarily have to be entirely show accurate, i was just thinking of slightly more advanced toys, for example an articulated Tirek playset with the mane six, or a Dicord action figure even.

Combiner wars is awesome, and the marvel toys a d transformers will always be awesome, but the new transformers RID line is god awful.

The problem with the ‘show accurate’ buzzword is that it takes away from what MLP was in the first place colorful small, cutesy horse toys with brushable, stylable nylon hair and the ability to do whatever you want with it. If you take that away, they just turn into one of a dozen, generic toys with nothing special about them.

Transformers combiner wars is really good & the Marvel Legends toys are still as good as they ever were.
 
& this image is indicative of their toys 5 years ago, not what they’re like now.

Hasbro’s products suck as of late, look at the new Jurassic world toys, the forgot to put toe claws on their raptors, and they made the T-rex look ugly I MEAN SERIOUSLY HOW DO YOU SCREW UP T-REX! But there are a few good ones such as the Indominus and mosasaur, not like the old kenner toys, if kenner weren’t shut down by hasbro and they had made the MLP toys they would be 100% better than anything hasbro has released.
 
I’m still wItimg for poseable ponies with action features amd show accurate paint jobs and mane styles.
