Haadcanon: A unicorn’s aura doesn’t show up properly when captured on film (photo or video).  
MLP FiM is actually a filmed show, and this camera issue was present during the first season. S2 was filmed with more advanced, more expensive cameras, which could more accurately capture the visible aura.

She saw the Element of Magic cutie mark when Twilight hatched Spike and KNEW she would bring Nightmare Moon down, maybe restore Luna.  
She KNEW as a former wielder of the Elements that she would need friends to wield the elements, so she surrounded Twilight with ponies that she could form attachments with. She selected ponies that could be element bearers. Minuette certainly could bear the element of laughter!  
These ponies where chosen to bear the elements!  
Only too late she saw that it didn’t work out the way she planned.

Minuette has frosting on her nose. That’s sooo cute.

I think that the only thing that could disprove that is that other background characters gained colored auras once season 2 episode 3 came around. So who knows?

Possibly. It could also be that her exposure to the Element of Magic eventually changed her magic aura to be closer to its coloration.
