I wouldn’t be surprised if her Alakazam knew Focus Blast (a Fighting type move) or her Roserade knew Pin Missile (a Bug type move) just to take care of Dark types. And Gardevoir is part-Fairy, so that’s another protection against Dark.

I had no idea about the terminology, but I’m a “Karen.”

My favourites (in order) are:
Darkrai
Charizard
Gardevoir
Lucario
Aegislash
Kingdra
Haxorus

And my team is:
Sarkhan the (Mega) Charizard (X)
Angela the Gardevoir
Lucas the (Mega) Lucario
Soul Calibur the Aegislash
Kaiba the Kingdra
and Apocalypse the Haxorus.
(I just wish that Lucas, Soul Calibur, and Apocalypse were shinies)

See, the problem with Karen’s outlook on this is the same as in the tiers: that some Pokemon are intrinsically “better” because they’re you’re favorites. Indeed, the vast majority of players I’ve seen who play with a one type team or a team of nobody monsters aren’t doing it because they’re their favorites, but to prove how skillful they are. And in Karen’s case, a team of Dark types can’t do jack against one Fighting or Fairy type. She wants to sit on her high horse? Let her. Just remember that the only reason Gym Leaders specialize is to allow skilled trainers to beat them more easily.

Good point.

There are two main schools of thought, informally named the Tiers and the Karens (after Elite Four member Karen, who famously said: “Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled trainers should try to win with their favorites.”)

Tiers believe that the tier list exists for a reason, that some Pokemon are simply better in every way that others. This is true, but some take it to an annoying extent.

Karens believe that the tier list also exists for a reason, but avoid picking super-Pokemon and getting lots of easy wins because that is boring, and not everyone likes the same Pokemon. With proper training, most any Pokemon can become a super-Pokemon.
