True, it’s perfectly in character for her. But that doesn’t let her off the hook here.
The first rule of command is “you can delegate authority, but you can’t delegate responsibility.” Spike was in the mess he was in because Twilight and Cadance put him there.
I disagree,it’s not out of character for Twilight to put her job before her well-being sometimes (MONITOR EVERYTHING)

If anyone’s to blame for the way things went south in this episode, it’s Twilight Sparkle and Cadance. Twilight’s supposed to be the “organized” one; you’d think her planning would include getting a good night’s sleep so that she wouldn’t be passing out just as the summit got started. And Cadance was pretty useless. She saw that Spike was getting in over his head, but actually believed him when he said he had it under control. Seriously, Cadance? Spike’s just a kid; he’d rather tell a lie than admit he’s not able to handle the job YOU gave him to do.
