Eh, I’ll bite. It’s partly the pegasus thing but more about opposites - though they’re mostly implied when it comes to Rumble.
 
Scootaloo can’t fly, Rumble is good enough for Tornado duty; Scootaloo is a tomboy, Rumble looks like a filly; Scootaloo has a loyal sister figure, Rumble has a flaky big brother; Scoot’s hair is swept forward, Rumble’s is swept back; Scootaloo only seems to hang out with the CMC and occasionally RD, Rumble happens to spend time with Flitter and Cloudchaser and a good chunk of time with Thunderlane.
 
There’s nothing to Rumble’s canon personality and nothing to justify the ship, short of “Opposites Attract”, even if the opposition is superficial.

Yeah, yeah keep dreaming. The truth is that Rumble has dumped Scootaloo because she’s the least good looking filly in town. My always mother taught me that the only way to attract a man is to show him your own feminine aspect and Scootaloo doesn’t have this.
 
Rumble doesn’t deserve to be shipped with somepony like her.
