Me: “I’ve done it! They called me a crackpot conspiracy theorist, but I know what all these monster-pony sightings and appearances have in common! I know why the frequency of the sightings has been increasing at such an exponential rate too! It’s Badum! It’s always been Badum!”
At least in my continuity most of these creatures come from other countries so they’re not all that common in Equestria so ponies tend to not be familiar with them, and since there’s enough that act like monsters like mimics, nightmares, and batibats (as well as enough genuine threats in their world) ponies tend to by default be untrusting of them. We’re just seeing a surge of them popping up in Equestria due to a variety of factors :D
Makes sense, considering how familiar Twilight is with moths in the world that I’ve started thinking of as the Badum Cinematic Universe.
Also, it’s just cute to imagine Twilight having a friendship-themed super sense like Spiderman.
Twilight is attracted to a budding friendship. She homes in on it like a moth to a lamp XD
