No, I’m pretty sure they do need to be married. This is not that “progressive” of a show.

Thee are shipping of characters who just stand next to eachother, you bet people are going to ship one character embracing another. Especially since Steven Magnet was refered to as “Gay dragon” by Mike Vogel, the mlp producer himself. So is basically at least 50% gay couple with Bulk being or not being gay
Wait… I thought that this image was a joke that didn’t really need evidence of ships so much as it need characters touching each other.
Those are ridiculous pairings as well, roughly equal to this one.

The interaction between Steven Magnet and Bulk Biceps isn’t “affectionate”, and the sisters are simply sisters. I’d argue against LyraBon at this point too, although it’s obviously teased.
I totally missed the Doc/Derpy hug at the time I made this, but as for Vinyl/Tavi, there weren’t any displays of affection to screencap between them, so they wouldn’t have fit this collage ^^;
Most ships don’t even have any reasoning whatsoever. The most popular male gay shipping is with Braeburn and with characters he never interacted with nor with any significant hint at him and any of his parters being hinted as gay. A way less believable than this ship.
