Appledash does have this chemistry. You can actually imagine them actually living together for years and years as couples. Most other ships aren’t the marrying kind of material.

I figured the best reason was because some people liked the idea of a hotheaded athletic tomboy being with a down-to-earth farm girl.
 
I personally prefer RariJack but I can certainly understand the appeal of AppleDash.

Early Web 2.0 sites were notorious for this, as well, though many sites nowadays use more creative color schemes.
