Yes; Fifty Shades of Grey is a badly written fanfic written by someone who never bothered to learn the difference between an abusive relationship and bdsm or even a precursory knowledge of either because the only point was to make smut and the whole thing lowers the bar worse than Twilight ever could even by the hatedom’s standards. In short, a guide on what not to do in bdsm, love, and life in general. None of this is news to anyone.
 
As for OP’s opinion, I would say that while the bdsm lifestyle isn’t necessarily all about the sex, it’s certainly not something you want to dive deep into without prior research and deliberate thought.
