I’ve tried colouring one of Marauder’s comic pages.
What do you guys think?
P.S. I haven’t followed any arts classes, i just coloured this in Paint.net.

Well, GIMP vs. PDN is a matter of tool selection. I see PDN as lighter than GIMP, but sufficient for most purposes. But I don’t art seriously, so WTFDIK(what the fuck do i know).
What I was asking about was the JPEG noise. If that was in the original, you can clean it up or leave it in. If the original wasn’t noisy (just checked, it wasn’t that noisy), you can save in a lossless format (PNG should deal with solid colo(u)rs well), or you need to save it at a higher quality. You saved this at what, 75? Maybe 80? Possibly 85? That keeps the filesize down, but lovely Luna man! Look at those great big blocks of noise! Try 98. If that’s too big, 95, maybe down to 90ish. Dropping the quality lower and lower has diminishing returns (but so does raising it).
Or maybe you did use a reasonable quality level, in which case this is why JPEG sucks (at some things). Or you need a better encoder. I haven’t used it much, but I don’t remember whatever encoder PDN uses being spacetime-tearingly awful though.
Just something to keep in mind.
Right. It’s not JPEG artifacts, it’s the fill tool not filling pixels where the line was graded rather than just cutting off. OP, if you want to improve your next effort, make a second pass with a brush to get rid of all those gradients. You’ll need to magnify the image and use a very small brush. I have no idea what tool paint provides, I always use Photoshop or at least something from Apple with a few options.
The original was also 955x1280.
I’ve already been advised by someone else to use GIMP instead of Paint.net.
I coloured this image more for the fun of it, but maybe i’ll try to redo it in GIMP one day to get a better result.
Also, needs moar JPEG. (Was the original like that? I don’t remember.)
Seriously though, it’s not terrible, but it looks a bit (very) rough at the ink lines. Fill tools (which I’m assuming you used) are good, but they’re not magic.
