Pffft, maaan ED-209 is a bit of a ‘meme’ in some circles really, so it’s not surprising. A lot of people would know it from gifs and clips more than they would know the movie it came from.  
Especially thanks to the Robocop vs Terminator scans, because, come on, ED209 scared the bejesus out of a subway station because a dog piddled on one of them and he shot it point blank with an exploding round. That was just all kinds of hilarity.
 
Hell, it was one of the first voice clip packs for Worms 2. The voice is just so great. It’s got a Robot Frank Horrigan twist to it.

I can’t believe “ED209” and “ED-209” are tags on Derpibooru. People actually remember this movie, remember a secondary robot from it, remember the name of said robot, and have put it in at least 3 different pony pictures.
