Best thing is that Ashleigh Ball posted AppleDash on her twitter and basically called it canon.
You still trollin’ AppleDash? Is your life literally THAT miserable and empty that you don’t have anything better to do?
Of course it isnt, but this an exception.
Normally, appledash is pretty much under attack (especially on derpibooru) and most of the time its senseless bashing, usually from rarijackfans. That saddens me a bit, since I like both ships :(
I don’t think putting other reasons for characters to care and consul one another other than shipping is “bashing”. Most of the insults and trollish behavior I’ve seen on this thread seem to be from those in favor of this ship.
Yeah, I know… :/
I used to ask myself why people could possible prefer to “actively” go out and bash other ships rather than to enjoy and support their own.
Until I realized that those type of drama-trolls are to shipping, what ‘gossip whores’ are to social media. Heck, those drama-trolls simply ARE such ‘gossip whores’. Of any media
.Well it’s well known that shippers will have a heightened sense of single minded perception for their preferred relationship (we all do but them more so)of characters which blinds them to any alternate interpretation so such petty insults are not surprising.
And yeah, shipping fuel <3
Appledash FTW!
I was kind of hopping that they WOULD actually address RD’s implied loss, or at least hint at it. This seemed like a continuation of Games Ponies Play in that respect, but the episode just got ridiculous and didn’t get any real resolution.
Right, shit, sorry
How did you not see the moment during the dazzling song montage when Lyra and Bon Bon,rubbed their faces on each other while singing. Shippers went fanatical and spammed the site with the image for days.
When did they flirt with the possibility of same sex couples in Rainbow Rocks?
Oh, I dunno. The previous examples didn’t cause much moral uproar aside from some vague whining from fans. Heck, it would probably be less controversial than the Great Princess Twilight Scandal of ‘13. Not that Hasbro, as a corporation, is very bold about pushing the envelope when it comes to social issues, e.g. Equestria Girls, but they’ve given the writers, who are decidedly more progressively inclined, a lot of leeway. I see it as a reasonable possibility, and getting more reasonable every year.
That would cause a gigantic uproar in “moral” associations. Times aren’t quite mature for that, I think.
Maybe Hasbro is going to keep that for when the series will jump the shark - or nuke the fridge, as we should say today.
Well, now, I’m not sure after this past year that’s completely true. After all, we had Adventure Time flirt with making Bubbline canon and was apparently intended to be, then we had Legend of Korra actually make Korrasami canon in its finale, though it wasn’t explicit. Then Steven Universe had two female-identified characters in a romantic relationship, and made that fact pretty undeniable, and it’s intended for the youngest demographic out of the three shows. Given the mostly positive reactions from audiences, it may actually be beneficial for shows like MLP to have a canon same-sex couple (heck, Rainbow Rocks seemed to flirt with the possibility pretty clearly).
It doesn’t make sense because they’re just fictional characters good for a very young audience, and are not intended to express any position on a thorny subject like homosexual relationships. So every supposition, in a way or the other, is pure and vain speculation.
What part of it didn’t make sense to you? Unless you mean the part of my second comment that was directed at you when I was talking about Fluttershy’s tough love, and used heavy sarcasm (since I guess it’s not always easy to tell when someone’s being sarcastic on the internet, so maybe that was confusing if you couldn’t tell I was there).
Uh, you keeping on? What I wanted to say is that you don’t make any sense either. Got the message?
So pretty much exactly what Fluttershy did in the ep you mean?
Or well exactly what she did before following up the dose of tough love she knew Dash needed by holding and consoling her while she cried her eyes out I guess. But yeah I guess that is only a half assed effort at helping someone, unlike standing back and being unwilling to offer some words of comfort on your own.

I wish I could say it wouldn’t have surprised me.
If you try so hard with it, I could as well say it’s quite the contrary: AJ knows RD so well, being her GF and all, that it was evident to her that Rainbow’s sobbing was actually nothing to worry about, and it’s better to let her go through it.
Of course nothing of this makes sense.
