Because this is also something that happens naturally, and it involves death and routine and a basic biological creature doing basic biological things and that must be oh so tragic.

……well if I was, it would be that none of them are tragic characters. They’re the bestest buds in Ponyville powered by the magic of friendship for Celestia’s sake.
 
And this is no ill will toward AJ either. Personally TS is my fav, but Applejack always creeps up from second from time to time.

There is one problem with all that, we know nothing of Fluttershy’s or Dash’s families, and nothing official was ever said about them, so for all we know something tragic could of happend.  
So EQUINE has a point, half of one I’ll admit but still.

I’ll remember that the next time she’s slitting her wrists in the barn, crying about her dead parents and that nobody loves her.

Fluttershy? Nothing tragic about her, no seriously, being a bit shy isn’t tragic.. Dash? OP as all hell but can be played tragic with her crave for attention, but that’s rare since she’s basically a Wonderbolt already. Twilight? Makes Dash look underpowered. Rarity? Seems easy enough. Pinkie? Depends how you play the character but she certainly can be tragic, just her life is pretty easy and her magic powers make her hard to pity unless she is crushed emotionally to Pinkamena level.
 
Now, AJ. Lauren Faust confirmed that AJ’s parents are dead but she wasn’t allowed to do the episode about it but that’s why they aren’t around. AJ appears to be in charge of running a farm to support her family. AJ is born an earth pony, so no matter how much she tries to be the best athlete, Dash wins just because she was born a pegasus. Struggling to pay rent. Has to work everyday of her life.
 
…I could go on, but yeah. She’s the more tragic, complex character. It’s why bronies don’t like her, she’s not in your face.
 
You shouldn’t step up Equine when you basically can’t win.

I didn’t grow up around them and that voice still isn’t exotic to me. It sounds somewhat…Undignified if you will. Serf-like. Under-educated. A sign of one unerringly proud of their own ignorance.
