Quick check says … Yes, he was a Senator. A State Senator in Illinois in 2001. He didn’t take his seat as U.S. Senator after his 2004 Senate election until 2005.

@BronyHeresy: He joked about Obama thinking it was a good idea to go into Afghanistan and that he should have checked with the Russians first. Yes, he criticized him for getting in. In 2001. Was he even a Senator yet? I don’t think he was.

As far as I’m concerned, this is just dementia kicking in. He actually believes Obama is right in front of him, replying to everything he says. If I believe it, it’s true right? please let it be true.
