Aside from Applejack being exceptionally protective of her farm, I will point out that in Magic Duel, Applejack was the only pony Trixie used physical violence against (by throwing her into her apple baskets).
 
I don’t blame her one bit.

Trixie: It was either that spell, or Trixie gets brooms to do it!
 
Applejack: Beg your pardon?
 
Trixie: The Great and Redeemable Trixie had made a broom grow arms and do the work for her, but it backfired because Trixie had forgotten the deactivation spell the first time.
 
Applejack: …Fair enough, but you’re still going to do it without Magic.
