until they get official audioplays and licenced novels, I thnk it would be pretty easy to follow
Twilight is an awkward teen schoolgirl in another dimension, and Celestia cares more about her husbando than the sake of multiple equestria; etc, etc. Whether you have a problem with this being canon or not doesn’t matter, you could ignore it if you want, but it’s 100%(ish) legit for the most part.
Only HUEG nerds make a big deal about what’s canon or not, the show’s staff has already said that the equestria girls series is quasi-canon (meaning for the most part), and that the comics are “soft canon” (i.e. canon until the show says otherwise). Please don’t make a commotion over nothing (mostly over what amounts to silly factoids). :P

Most likely, just like we’ve seen with a few of the CCG cards, Enterplay has S5 information they can use on these, so it would be interesting to see other trading cards on characters with factoids that have not been seen on the show.
