Quite. Two women have almost everything they’d need to make a kid – they just don’t have a way to combine two egg cells. Throw in magic or modern science and you’re fine.

I once read a fic where Celestia wax looking with her romantic partner to find a way to become pregnant (in the fic her body could not change due to being ageless) and she found zebra fertility potion with which could get a pony pregnant.  
Either the potion had to be enchanted before sex for the non-unicorns, while the unicorns ingested the potion and had sex but with their horns. It said that the magical burst in the horn during orgasm held similar characteristics to a penis during orgasm due to how the magic would “burst” and that magic held all the needed components of the other pony for the developing of the fetus. So the potion was more like a blank slate for a fetus to form, only needed the second parent’s DNA to begin.

That is the best explanation. You’ve got some powerful characters and artifacts; I’m sure there’s a method in one of Twilight’s books. Magic is how the sun rises in this show, after all. The exact nature of that method isn’t the point if you’re just making a picture like this. If it’s a fanfic or something, most of them do go into how it happened.

Well, she’s cute, but I can’t for the life of me understand why magical lesbian spawn is a thing in this fandom. I mean, how does it even work? I don’t think any of these artists ever explain that bit. (just “magic” seems like kind of a cop out). Eh, whatever. There are far crazier things on this site that I understand even less (most of which I filter).
