Pretty sure the squeaking’s part of some target-practice initiative for the Stormtrooper corps. Doesn’t seem to help with Actor Shielding(C), but such is cinematic rank-and-file.

Actually, the Mouse Droids are pretty useful for several reasons. They’re repair-droids, they keep the ship from breaking apart. Sure, the sounds they make are annoying as Tartarus, but they are still quite useful.
