Didn’t show Tirek taking over the kingodm.
Didn’t show him or Scorpan going to Equestria.
Didn’t show Scorpan making friends with Starwhirl.
and it definitely didn’t show Tirek being thrown to Tartarus by the sisters.
This really cheesed me off.
Do centaurs just live in a land far from Equestria or in a different realm/world?
What’s the bag around his neck? Rainbow of Darkness seems unlikely in this gen.
Can all centaurs (with talent for magic) drain magic or is Tirek just better at it?
Does this mean other creatures can use magic, even without horns? We haven’t seen any non-pony in the show do so. Well, Discord, but…
Speaking of, what the hell was Discord doing there?!
Shouldn’t this arc have ended by showing his backstory from the show, like with Sombra?
Did anything influence Tirek to become a power-hungry asshole or was he somehow just born like that? Sendak, maybe?
I think the problem is that the issue reads like half a comic. This looks like a Part One, but we know beforehand we’re not getting a Part Two, so we get a decent build-up with no pay-off at all.
Well, I’ve said since the two started occupying the same series that Sombra for all his subtleties is just way more interesting. Tirek in the series proper was mostly a straightforward, power-wanting villain, with all his interesting story bits spelled out ahead of time. With not much to be gained from gained form going any farther back.
Seeing this mysterious Far Land is still nice, however.
Here he we are privy to a single isolated episode of Tirek life. The whole situation probably could have happened multiple times in the past (as Tirek was already evil at the start of the comic) and multiple times in the future (as Tirek is still not evil/powerful enough as to act).
In the end, the comparison with King Sombra number hurts the whole thing. Sombra story pretty much detailed his beginning, his childhood, the thoughts in his head, his corruption and his first defeat, everything was handled good enough to be very impressive for a single comic. I highly doubt any other of the fiendship series will be able to reach Sombra’s standards.
Yes. The ending feels a little abrupt to me, too.
my thoughts exactly
From now on I’m reading teen Tirek with Vic Mignogna’s voice
Bad End, Tirekboss.
And, thousands of years later, you’ll be pwned by a group of six mares with 80’s hairstyles!
