personally, i’m more than willing to give these new writers a fair chance, regardless of the quality of their previous works. bear in mind that mlp has a fairly diverse array of writers stemming from backgrounds good and mediocre; scott sonneborn used to write for angela anaconda of all things, but his latest co-effort with mitch larson has received critical acclaim so far. not to mention merriwether williams, who wrote for spongebob squarepants and the angry beavers, has written episodes that have gotten both scathing and positive reviews. as an occasional writer myself, i know that if you write a lot of material over a lot of time, you’ll almost invariably have some bombs in the mix - even shakespeare had king john and pericles, prince of tyre!

Oi, that writer duo could either be decent or really bad.
 
Then again, considering the premise they’re working with, would I see the difference?

I don’t know, I do like Nick’s new TMNT show personally. It has a few misses, like the previous shows did, but it’s pretty good, and has alot of nice callbacks to previous TMNT canons.

I’d probably be more judging towards the reveal of the writers themselves, if the person who is responsible for the worst episode of S1 didn’t also make write the best episode of S4.
 
As far as I’m concerned, all bets are off.

All three works from the Nick Network whose sole business model has been to pump out low production budget, slapped together, uncreative(unoffensive) “syndication chum” for the rest of the world for the last few years. It’s not a writers fault that their paycheck is signed by suits with clipboards that don’t believe the creative process has any merit. They have to make a living somewhere.

I am of course going to give the new writers a chance. It would be stupid not to. But…

Agreed, ironically even some slightly-“disliked” writers have churned out good episodes.

I’ll judge the episode by the content, not the writers. It may be fantastic. Or not.

I think by nailed it, McCarthy means nailed it right into a coffin.
