Shining: I dont get much time for myself, but Twi wants me to spend some more time with Spike for some semi-brother bonding time.
Nah. A Deadskins game
Dude: a counterexample responding to you in this thread, spoiler directly involving Spike & DA FOOTBALL…and the vast ‘silent’ majority of this fan-base would still be its target demographic (i.e. kiddies…who, like as not, have their own boards these days). And srsly: sports fans are less likely to be unhinged eccentrics ala Tumblr’s blanket take on bronedom?
Yeah, huge difference in degree there.
Where did I say he wasn’t allowed to e a sports fan?
All I said is that I found that it would be unlikely given how his life is portrayed in the show.
Then someone asked why, I responded, they then got upset because it is a mostly true stereotype.
There a “projection in the comments” tag? ‘Cause I keep seeing a heap o’ that with regards to self-hating NECKBEERD fan-stereotypers & inane made-up relationship drama over whether a cartoon pagedrake is ‘allowed’ to be a sports fan, of all the Surtur-gagged things.
4chan aside, most fans online do have a life outide of the fandom.
I try to stay away from 4chan. That place is just insane.
The fandom started online on 4chan, yo.
The everyday fan isn’t a member of the fandom then. To be part of a fandom you have to participate in the community not just watch the show.
For example: I like Once Upon a Time but I have never participated in the fandom in any way so I am not a member of it.
They may be the online majority but they propably not the majority of the fandom. I was a fan for years before I got an account here and I still mostly try to avoid the forums and especially try to stay clear of /mlp/. The online community of any fandom is biased in that simply joining means that you are more involved than the everyday fan. The everyday fan more than likely just watches the show and besides that, has little to no involvement in the community as a whole.
I’ve been in the fandom for about three years now.
In that time I have participated in various forums and had multiple conversations with them. They are the majority.
Still though, just ‘cause it may apply to some doesn’t mean it applies to all.
“2. Everything I said applies to me too.”
I said that before you got here.
I enjoy sports, have friends, have a nicely shaved face and don’t even own a fadora. First, please don’t go stereotyping all fans together and second, wouldn’t your generalization include you as well?
“Where were we showed this?” Season 1 Episode 1, Spike’s first appearance in the show was him about to leave for Moondancer’s party.
“expect for the bits where he actually got out more than Twiley did back in Canterlot”
Where were we showed this? We were not. All we know is that he does anything for Twilight and always has and that Twilight did practically nothing but study and read.
“seems like he’d need a few more years before sweating that FRENDEZERN nonsense anyhow”
He does whatever Rarity wants him to do and is generally pathetic about it. He is friendzoned.
“stereotyping everybrone as a neckbeard”
They are. Spend any amount of time on a forum for the fandom and you will find that most of them are the perma virgins of the stereotype.
“Find sharper hooks before you go a’baitin’.”
>thinking i’m not serious
Clearly Derpy and the Doctor have special dispensation, then.
Or the Secret Crystal Service(C) insists on a minimum safe radius for Shiney to snap on his shield-bubble. Wouldn’t wanna get anyone caught halfway inside that thing.
…expect for the bits where he actually got out more than Twiley did back in Canterlot, seems like he’d need a few more years before sweating that FRENDEZERN nonsense anyhow, stereotyping everybrone as a neckbeard, et. al. Find sharper hooks before you go a’baitin’.
Judging by how bronies reacted to the Super Bowl ad and how many said they caught it on TV, at least a significant number must like.
