True, but supposedly American poltical parties are de-centralized and relatively weak in hierarchal structure as compared to Europe. The parties are thought certainly influential and controlled by elites of each spectrum with ties and interest beyond the people they allegedly represent.

Still I wouldn’t call it a failure in only that if the system was a true failure America would be In a far worse state than it is. The stagnation of congress and what not is simply because the America seems not to know what to do with itself, not that it ever really knew but we really have hit the low point of our ambitions lately.

So he just wants to get reactions out of people?

Apologies if this is just a pun that came through badly, but no, reactionary isn’t about getting reactions from anyone. There are four basic points on the political compass, and they don’t mean what the press usually uses them to mean. Calling the Democrats “liberal” and the Republicans “conservative” is an unfortunate artifact of the US two-party system. Neither party actually falls neatly on the political compass. Both parties hold positions that have more to do with polling data than any underlying political philosophy, and are all over the map.

Liberal means you favor quick changes to solve problems, but you draw the line at changes that would disrupt the overall system. Radical means you favor very fast, highly disruptive changes. Liberal and Radical are what are properly called “the Left.” On “the Right,” Conservative means you favor the status quo, or slow, careful change. Reactionary means you favor reverting things to the way they were at an earlier period in time. So if you look at, say, minimum wage: the Liberal wants minimum wage to go up; the Conservative wants it to stay the same or maybe creep up indexed to inflation; the Reactionary wants to abolish the minimum wage and go back to 1890s-style robber baron capitalism; and the Radical wants to abolish wealth and wages altogether.

One point of the political compass is that like a compass it’s round. If you’re Reactionary enough, you want undo maybe a hundred years or more of social change; that will of course disrupt everything that’s working at that moment in time. Effectively, you’re a Radical. And if you’re Radical enough, you’re probably seeking to restore a prior point in time: even someone as radical as an Anarchist is really just trying to re-create the time before organized civilizations created classes of people to do the organizing, and impose that organization on everyone else. Anarchists are the ultimate Reactionaries. That’s why Stalinist Russia (a Radical government) and Nazi Germany (a Reactionary government) were both complete shitholes almost entirely indistinguishable from each other except for the flavor of their rhetoric.

Politics in general is a mess but the US democrat/republican system is a failure. The two sides and their politicians strictly encourage black and white ‘us-vs-them’ mentality, when in reality most people share views from both sides, at least those who don’t act like sheep for their favourite party.

One could argue that term could be affiliated with all poltics of any origin thought of course the America poltical system is supposedly heavily based on the representation of its constituents so…

Hey, here’s an idea: go back and look at the scores for all of the other pics under this tag, see how deeply into the negative numbers most of them are, realize nobody really likes these except you, and stop uploading this stupid forced-meme garbage.

While doing some five minute “research” based on comments from some of these non-reactionary Sunset images I came to the impression that so called non-reactionaryist see universal democracy as something negative and try point out is flaws so that they can justify the handing over of power to a select group of individuals to “rule responsibly”. I don’t know If my “findings” are in anyway accurate but since Google is having trouble putting a definition on this topic i can only assume that’s the basic idea.

This is either a sarcastic attempt by a “liberal” to make a parody of this Non-reactionary sunset meme. A failure of meme by a conservative, or a troll being trolly…or all three possibly.
