I wish.
Saiyan-Jin Warrior?
Trust me, you don’t want to know.
What is the SJW?
Nah, she’s too level-headed for that.
Mina is the leader of the SJW Guild of Equestria
Again, good a theory as any with the current dearth of backstory. Be interesting to find out whether griffs even have/had a nation per se.
Griffon is the spelling used throughout official titles and transcripts, to my knowledge.
@gorkspewdium
That, or Hurricane’s little excursions left more Griffons displaced than anypony remembers.
@PonyPon
Makes it dead easy to headcanon (a) semi-recent beef between Equestria and Catbirdburg and/or (b) serious differences over griffons’ usual dietary needs/preferences. Heck, maybe Gilda was extra-snappy on account of nuthin’ but tofu-equivalent & hayburgers for local eats.
@Wolfjira
Just another way to spell griffin.
What’s a Griffon?
How suspicious.
Yes, indeed. Pinkie had no trouble recognising a dragon, but no idea what a Griffon is.
Correction appreciated. Still, factoring in show & IDW, griffs seem a touch under-represented in comparison to the allegedly Super-Reclusive-And-Scary Saurians(C).
Three. Gilda, Gustave, and Nameless Catbird Team.
Funny thing is, a decent chunk of the Spike/older-pony artists render him more physically developed to imply time-passage &, you know, legality. This pic, by contrast, seems to age-regress Mina so they can be safely Toy Shipped(C). At any rate, I’d rather see more griffon-themed eps; at this rate the show’s dragon cameos already outnumber ’em seven or eight to two.
LOL I was thinking of it the other way around. How long have people been trying to argue Spike is actually older than he is (not a “baby” or a “little kid”) so that shipping him with one of the mane 6 or other adult characters isn’t “creepy”. But now, all of a sudden they’re getting upset because she’s “too old for him”.
Mina didn’t show any interest like that in Spike in the comic, but he did blush when talking about her and called her pretty more than once, and talked about wanting to go back and visit where she lives more often. So, if anything he had/has a thing for her. But, this is the comics not the cartoon so unlikely to affect “official canon”, but we could still see something similar in the show especially if they bring in more dragons like they’ve hinted… it’s pretty overdue by now honestly.
It’s not any different, really. It’s business-as-usual shipping.
So I just tell no. Just. No.
Much appreciated. Good point about the resizing, though I still find it less annoying than the pics where Spike’s artistically licensed down to near-hatchling scale (unless, of course, it is a Hatchling!Spikey flashback). He ain’t that puny, people.
@FurryXXI
Rest assured I was simply mentioning a theme from the comic featuring Mina, not trying to rip on her directly. After-school messages aside, she seems like a fun means of expanding the IDW-verse Spike & Luna’s social circles.
Calm down, yo. Issuing empty threats is definitely some kind of derpi faux pas. No one is saying anything bad about Mina, they’re just saying people shouldn’t be so conspicuous with the double standards when it comes to Spike shipping. I mean, this pic literally has Mina several sizes smaller with altered body features.
Gekkan is right! You say something bad about Mina one more time, you’ll find out how hard it is for you to type without fingers!
@Background Pony #2EA1
Still shouldn’t be so blatantly pointing it out. I bet it’s some kind of derpi faux pas or something.
“It’s different ‘cuz she’s a dragon too!”
…after a comic whose theme involved not subscribing to double-standard-think regarding city drakes. Go figure.
