Amy Rose was hitting on & chasing Sonic in the games sense "Sonic CD," so that's Sega's doing actually.
The only girls he's technically been in a GF&BF relationship in was Princess Sally, and very briefly Fiona Fox. (He never got with Mina Mongoose, or other girls. That's a common misconception of the Archie Sonic canon.) So honestly he really hasn't been as much of a "skirt-chaser," as some fans think. Heck, fans still 'ship him with females ^(and males)^ he's never been in an official relationship with, like Blaze the cat.
Also, the Archie series was cancelled, and apparently the IDW series has no 'shipping for Sonic in it. In fact, some fans are actually a li'l upset he's not being 'shipped with their favorite female character/s, so even when Archie & IDW stopped 'shipping Sonic, fans still get angry. (Especially, SonSal fans.) So it's still lose-lose even when he's not being 'shipped in a new official comic canon different from Archie.
