This marks a real turning point in characters for the show. For the Village Four there, do not look out of place standing among the Mane 6 as they are. It is my hope that these guys not only reappear along the season, but become pivotal in of themselves to resolving whatever the final conflict there may be. As an alternate set of Elements of Harmony? Who says the Mane Six have the be the only embodiments of them?

Ok given this scene and the one where three of the unnamed ponies are chasing Glimmer I think its become extremely likely they are some form of resistance.
