It’s the word in front of the subscript sequence.

Unicode subscripts. This will work, if you have the fonts, but it may not look exactly right:

I dunno, that’s the best I could find through trial and error.

1. It’s transparent(ish) to xrays. Used in xray crystallography.  
2. It’s a neutron reflector and moderator. Used in nuclear weapons, and criticality experiments (e.g. the Demon Core).  
3. Used in non-sparking beryllium-copper tools. Vital when working around things like hydrogen.  
4. High speed of sound. That’s sqrt(β∕ρ).  
5. When you factor in the weight, apparently Beryllium ceramics make fantastic body armor.  
6. Beryllia (BeO) is an electrical insulator, yet a fantastic conductor of heat. Used to be used as heat spreaders and heat sinks.  
7. Despite having zero neutron excess (important for light elements), ⁸​Be is fantastically unstable. Why? Because ⁴​He is even more stable!
    
   I know that I forgot at least one thing about Beryllium that I know, but my point is thus:  
   Beryllium is awesome, too!
