Spike has also been counted as being fairly unique since even Twilight Sparkle could find no actual information on dragons since they are ‘too mean and scary to study’. If a whole district of dragons in a major city exists who are nice, that wouldn’t happen.

Dragon Quest differentiated Spike from the wild dragons. Dragon Town is essentially a bunch of “Spikes”.

Well this tidbit definitely runs in contradiction to the show.

In other words, they are lame dragons
