I actually do have some respect for G1, since it did start MLP and introduced a bunch of concepts later used in FIM. The ones after that {Aside from FIM, of course}……. Not so much.

For most of them, nothing. They’re allowed to have an opinion on G4 just as G4 fans are allowed to have an opinion on previous generations. (Granted, most of the time those opinions are ill-informed, but that’s a topic for another time.) Some bronies just get upset when previous gen fans turn the tables and say that G4 is inferior to what came before it.
 
While I would like for fans of all generations to show respect for fans who don’t like the same generations, as long as people don’t get too vicious or too wrapped up in their own misconceptions, I don’t get worked up over it.

Bronies. Drawing pics of previous Gens mocking them for no good reason. “FIM MASTER RACE!” Not me. I acknowledge G1 as something good, but weird. Tales I don’t care for. G3? Favorite Generation. FIM? Something that decided to drop the spirit of MLP for what? Internet Memes? Um, yay?

G1 wasn’t really bad, it was a show intended to sell toys. It worked and it is actually kinda fun to watch.
 
G2 was bad. A show that screams with force “GIRLY SHOW FOR GIRLY GIRLS ONLY”. Yet I find it a bit entertaining because of how dumb it can be sometimes.
 
G3 all the above from G2 without the entertaining factor. Shit was baaaaaaad but not horrible. It served what it was meant for, sell toys to little girls.

Situation is same with some “prev gen fans”. They criticize G4, while not even watching it.
 
P.S. Comments of some prev gen fans always amused me. “G4 is not ponies!”. Yea, like real ponies have tubes instead of feet (G1).

There were far worse cartoon shows on TV in the 80s 90s, such as Scooby Doo.

Come on. all shows looked like shit back then. It was all the rage.

This person has absolutely no idea what Gen 1 was like. For on thing Rainbow Dash was not in G1 she first showed up in G3. Two Gen 1 was a lot more fantasy adventure then tea parties and boy obsessed (seriously G1 Twilight was not like that at all, and also really only appeared in Escape from Midnight Castle) stuff that a lot of people think about. That was more Pony Tales, G3 and 3.5 then G1.
 
Really this is something that annoys me a bit, I had never seen MLP before Gen 4 came around and I eventually went back and watched G1; while its far from as good as Gen 4 its much, much better then most Bronies give it credit for.
