The amount of effort it takes to write a story even a page long is so overwhelming that there’s no satisfaction whatsoever.
I can’t work towards something that I’m not obligated to do. If I’m going to do something in my spare time, it’s going to be something I enjoy, and work is not enjoyable for me. The best I can do is pitch the idea out there and hope someone who does enjoy work will find it.
Don’t be that way.
I understand that you may think that, and perhaps it is true.
But the point is: it doesn’t have to be so forever.
Try something, write a crappy fanfic, draw some misshaped stick figures, anything!
But at least try. With every word you write, you get better. With every line you draw, you improve.
Whatever you dream of, you can make as long as you get over that first hurdle: turning “I can’t” into “Let’s try”!
Some of us that do “Make it happen” don’t really of the talent to do so, so we put the idea out there for the ones with the talent can do it.
In other word, we can’t so we just pass it along, get over it.
As much as I want to, I just don’t have the skill to do fan work.
Do. It. Yourself.
Things won’t magically happen because you post an overused meme here. If you want to see this kind of crossover, write it yourself.
You’ll only get better for it.
