The one time I bothered to ask someone what it meant, I was told “lurk moar”. So I’m not really motivated to find out why I shouldn’t assume it’s meant to be misogynist or offensive or edgy.

Adding to the discussion on controversy: Anyone who probably doesn’t follow the cup would likely get mad at “>rape” simply for having that name.

Pfft. Let them claim that all they want, but by that logic everyone is an elite team now.
 
But those managers though. Every time one of those teams loses or something, they call for the sacking of the managers. Whereas we love and respect our managers because not only is it often down to RNG in team conditioning, but the fucking hours they put into something that is really just for the entertainment of a few hundred people, half of which likely not even aware of the effort they go through. I swear, /mlp/ is the only team that when the managers lose, the Anon’s go “Not a problem, man. You did everything you could, but fortune wasn’t happy with us today. We’ll get it next time.”
 
But still, all that in mind, while it is pathetic that people still get so rustled over ponies in their divegrass tournament, it is still just entertaining as hell to see how mad they can get.

While I can understand the thought of one thing being spread all over like cancer, there’s only so much hate you can muster especially if its over a long period of time that I would hope most is generally hyperbolic. Plus, I’d also hope that it’s not over how dedicated /mlp/ have been for the 4CC including the mods, blenders, posters and hyp intros and hyp gamethreads (which is also funny for the >planted ponyfag conspiracy. Competition tends to bring the best in people so if you want to overshadow /mlp/, then get YOUR anons to make scarfs, shirts and general hype instead of making excuses because even if /mlp/ was one of the worst teams ever, the fans would still be there cheering.
 
If you have managers autistic enough to test hundreds of PES hours testing, they will eventually win a cup or place high, despite the: >no manager abuse that can happen.
 
There’s only so much luck, rigging and PESing can do before actual tictacs become a big factor. And this team will never stop trying to win cups until the 4CC is kill.

Yeah, well… standard MLP hate. They see a pony, their day is ruined.  
In this sense, they hate /mlp/, they hate how popular the board is, they hate the viewer count going up when /mlp/ plays, they hate how the team has its own goodies like scarfs, flags and shirts made (and some given to the show creators themselves, which is pretty fucking awesome honestly).
 
But the thing that will forever rustle them… Is how /mlp/ keeps succeeding. There’s a 1st and 3rd place trophy gained already, and sooo many of those guys are:

Delicious tears. Even if /mlp/ do end up ultimately failing in a cup, the drama spurred from them just being there is always great, especially when the teams that used to be elite aren’t.

I heard the PtA guys were especially salty due to /mlp/ not getting BTFO. But whatever, it’s banter and it’s a shadenfreude similar to 200% mad /sp/ was with MLP in the Super Bowl.

It’s only controversial in the cup itself because everyone hates /mlp/ because of how good they are. Everything is ‘rigged’ for them, when realistically everyone is just bitching that the ponies are stomping through the elite teams.
 
Here though?… I dunno. Maybe it just wasn’t loading properly for people. I mean its not like there isn’t plenty of 4CC related stuff here already.
