There are many different changeling hives, Chrysalis’ hive being one of the largest and oldest ones. Changelings can actually feed on all emotions, but they each hive has one emotion that it focuses on, one emotion that they get more “nutrition” from than other emotions (Chrysies preferred emotion obv. being love). Replacing ponies is an uncommon practice, most changelings create their own identities and integrate themselves into pony society in positions that are most likely to get them whatever emotion it is that they prefer. For example, a changeling that feeds on trust might join the military, because soldiers trust each other with their lives.

My question is this,  
If a changeling is technically a different kind of critter than a pony, so much so that they have different biology and maybe even couldn’t breed together. (unless of course your headcanon works with shipping a pony like Shinning Armor and Chrysalis and enjoy the thought of them having a hybrid pony changeling baby together)  
But if a changeling has different biology and different DNA than a Pony, what happens when Chrysalis took the form of Cadance? Did her biology and DNA change to match Cadance? If you took a blood sample from Cadance and Chrysalis in her Cadance form, would they be different or the same?

I’ve asked myself this question a lot. Logically, I actually don’t think she’s a “pony”, at least not in the same way as say the main six, but she still deserves this title, never the less :3

How old? - I estimate mid-later 30s, assuming Changelings age like humans  
What is a Changeling? - I perceive it as a bug-like creature (body makeup, lifestyle, etc.) that simply as a form roughly like a pony. From there, also throw in some vampire/succubus-like elements

Oh cool, a serious discussion about changelings.  
They ain’t ponies. Probably never were, and it’s probably not possible to “convert” a pony into one. They’re bugponies, different species entirely. They all have magic and they all have wings. Demons? Probably not. Aliens? Nah. Sentient magic? Doubt it.

I think the biggest piece of evidence against them being any kind of pony is their alicorn appearance. They certainly aren’t all princesses and they don’t posses anywhere near the power of say, Celestia. This seems to suggest that their evolution is based off of mimicry, rather than any true function. After all, they can develop a full set of wings or a working horn through shape-shifting.

In my opinion, not knowing this stuff about her is what makes her so fascinating. We know who and what Nightmare Moon and Discord and Sombra are, and even Tirek to a lesser extent.
 
Who is Chrysalis, what is she, is she old, young, is she evil for the sake of being evil or is she looking out for her own species? Where did her kind even come from? We know none of these things and it’s what makes her so damned interesting.

So that’s two things that I absolutely don’t know about Queen Chrysalis, and it kinda bugs me (no pun intended), is that, I don’t know exactly or roughly how old she is, and what exactly is a changeling? Is it a different kind of pony? Is it a bug that is shaped similar to a pony? Is it a demon? A alien? A form of living sentient magic?  
What exactly are changeling?! Chrysalislover! I demand you answer my questions for me! Argghhhh!! * faints from frustration *

iunno lol. I just saw the BP making these and decided to mimic it with Chryssie.

Is she even technically a pony in her base form? Isn’t a changeling more of a parasite?
