I don’t think I would have minded the whole Twilicorn thing if it (and the episode itself) wasn’t half-a**ed.

Not bad, but let me know if you find a parallel universe in which either:
 
A. The reaction to Twilicorn and EQG is very negative  
B. Twilicorn and EQG never happened.

Well, there is a grain of truth in every joke.
 
Think about it. Rainbow Dash received most of the continuity. After “Sonic Rainboom”, she can do Sonic Rainboom at any time, after “May the Best Pet Win!”, Tank become her pet and was shown in many episodes after, after “Read It and Weep”, she become Daring Do fan that was acknowledged in later episodes, etc. Not to mention multiple episodes showing her slowly becoming Wonderbolt.
