Oh yeah, there’s definitely alliteration, consonance, and assonance in that connection, so it’s a good one to play around with.
@BigMax
I know, I know, but let me fool around a little okay? I was more thinking in the direction of an alliteration. Lets say, before corruption etc. her name wasn’t Chrysalis but something that sounds similar and related to actual crystals. Anyway I’m done with thinking about crazy headcanons for today.
@BigMax
chrysalis (n.): 1. a moth or butterfly at the stage of growth when it is turning into an adult and is enclosed in a hard case; 2. a hard case that protects a moth or butterfly while it is turning into an adult; etymology: Latin chrysallid-, chrysallis gold-colored pupa of butterflies, from Greek, from chrysos gold, of Semitic origin; akin to Hebrew ḥārūṣ gold
Looks like that Hebrew word isn’t copying quite correctly, but yes, Chrysalis’s name does have its origins in the Greek word for gold. I did not know that; I guess you could say this was my lesson in entomology etymology.
Sorry to interrupt your train of thoughts, but the word “chrysalis” has nothing to do with “crystal”. It has more in common with “gold” (chrysos in Greek).
(Wait a minute…Chrysalis…Crystal Empire…feeding on love…something about a former crystal princess…DUN DUN DUN)
I love the detail on her legs.
