From what I hear they kept the controls the same so you need a Wii-mote (or Wii-mote Plus) with nunchuck to play the game. It plays exactly as it did on the Wii.
 
Though, they did say some Wii games that use the “Classic controller” will use the Game Pad on WiiU optionally, but will still use the classic controllers to.

I just had a thought, what would SMG2 controls will be like with the GamePad? Unless Nintendo kept the mechanics the same and you’ll need the Wiimote and Nunchuks?

SMG2 was actually the first Wii game rereleased on WiiU’s Eshop, so it’s already out. Would be nice to have the “New Play Control” style Pikmin games to.  
Punch-Out Wii is also out, as well. (Always wanted to try that one, but it sold out…)  
I also hear “Donkey Kong Country Returns,” and “Kirby Return to Dreamland” will be coming out to WiiU’s Eshop, as well.
 
Neat thing is, if you have a save file of the original game/s in your WiiU’s memory, you can still use it with the download versions, as well.

Well, until that day comes (if Nintendo’s devs consider it) I’m just gonna have to switch between NGC games on the original Wii for the time being.
 
I heard they are bringing Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Pikmin 2 on the WiiU as well.

I don’t think that would be possible, as GameCube playability would require the right hardware, or emulation software. (Not to mention, even if you could, sense the games save to GameCube memory cards, and such they would have to retool the whole system to make them save on the WiiU’s memory, and such.)
 
Frankly, I was hoping they’d bring GameCube games as downloads, (like say “Virtual Console”) seeing as they started bringing Wii games to the Eshop. (Including the rare Wii game “Metroid Prime Trilogy” surprisingly. THANK YOU, NINTENDO! I never got to play those MP games.)

I believe HDMI does both audio/video so I think only one is actually needed. Though to be honest the cord that likely goes from the console to the TV has the wrong shaped plug.

How is Luna losing? She’s Gamer Luna! She’s suppose to be the best!

I just wish Nintendo would make an update for the WiiU to allow GameCube games to be adoptable for play (if that is possible), then I’ll be really happy. Or at least put them on the eShop, unless they can’t do that because the amount of bits to download will be too massive?

I like how the RCA Component Color connectors on the back of the TV are done correctly! :3

Y’know, that’s one cool thing WiiU has over the competition, the ability to use the previous console’s accessories/controllers & games on the new one. (So I don’t get all the “WiiU-hate” honestly as there are nice things about it to.)
 
Heck, I was surprised they made a GameCube-controller adapter for the new SSB games. So we get to even use our GameCube controllers with it now! (Which is constantly selling-out, and becoming hard to obtain, though Nintendo claims they’re going to try to make more soon. I guess they didn’t expect it to be in such high-demand.)  
Personally, I wish they would make a WiiU-update that allows you to use it’s GCN controllers for other games, and Virtual Console games as a “classic controller” so you get more use out of it. Now that you can customize the button controls in VC games, a GCN controller would work well for them now.
 
(Which as anyone who’s played “Super Mario World” on a Wii with a GCN controller would tell you, they should’ve had “custom-control schemes” in the first place for VC games… Oh well, nobody’s perfect.)
