The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@A Sad Pony
The fact that Pyro burns people is quite obvious even without the video, and it didn’t show anything else (other than using the hatchet and the new taunt kill, that requires an unlockable weapon which you can only get if the Random Gods are pleased with you).
Schizophrenia is not a part of personality, it’s a mental disorder, no offence to any schizophrenics.

Other than that… Meh, I guess you’re right. Still, if one of Pyro’s main function is to ambush, why did he walk straight into BLU’s, warning them of his existence? That’s not really how ambushing works.

On the tiny details (spychecking, uselessness underwater), yeah, agreed, that would be unnecessary, still, showing how airblasting works would be nice (ex. Soldier trying to shoot down Pyro, reflect, blood fireworks). Although I’ve already been proven wrong here. so I’ll just be silent.

In light of the new Meet the Tobors (or Mann vs Machines) I am upgrading that to bets video, Pyro in second place. It was amazing.

I made a .gif once
->MTT were intended to show classes’ abilities and personalities
->This video only showed that the pyro can burn people and has schizophrenia

Yeah, I know. How dare it just show off his abilities and personality. [/snark]

But, seriously. Meet The Team isn’t supposed to be a gameplay showcase. It’s to give a general idea about how the class functions, and it’s also to market the game in an entertaining in-universe way. If we’re going to criticize a video for not showing every possible aspect of their class, we’d have to poo-poo Meet The Medic for not displaying any of the Medic’s relatively poor intrinsic offensive abilities or Meet The Scout for not showing any Scattergun ambushing, because those are honestly pretty basic with those classes.

The Pyro class has always had a core function: ambush and buurrrrrrrrrrrnn. Pyro is a class with much utility in it’s airblast and otherwise, that’s undeniably true, but burning people is truthfully what that class is all about. The tone of Meet The Pyro highlights the in-game dichotomy between attacker and victim: a relatively pleasant and rewarding experience for the former, completely terrifying for the latter. And in the actual game, enemy teams often falter and panic upon being set ablaze, to some degree. They may not always scramble for a health kit or call for Medic, seeing as how many classes have some form of afterburn protection nowadays, but it’s always something that gets their attention. And to that end, Meet the Pyro conveyed this central tenant well.

I will say, however, that Meet The Pyro was the only video that left me wanting a little more. I didn’t mind Pyroland at all, but at not even three minutes, I was hoping for some other class perspectives, perhaps, or just even more of a build-up before the reveal. But, eh, it was the last video (and therefore under heavier speculation and hype) and Meet the Medic was a hard act to follow.

@Lium
Allow me to disagree with the title of the best MTT video. Don’t forget that MTT were intended to show classes’ abilities and personalities (although Meet the Heavy was originally a faceposing test). This video only showed that the pyro can burn people and has schizophrenia. No demonstration of airblasting, showing that he’s helpless underwater or that he’s a perfect spychecker.
Not to mention that it took them two bloody years to make this.
