Personally, I see no point to having downvotes. Image popularity is measured just fine by number of upvotes and encouraging positivity and support dramatically outweighs the meager and invisible benefit gained by letting people anonymously hate on images
without bothering with critique or justification
Removing it would also stop the flood of "2 people couldn't enjoy their sandwich" comments
