We’re currently running our vague ‘hey heres stuff for college’ sale right now. It is hilarious to see people all flabbergasted that we have all of one quarter aisle of odds-and-ends patio furniture cushions left. B-B-BUT ITS ONLY JULY!11!1!!! Yes. It’s July. This shit’s been on the shelves since February, and started going on sale back in late April. It was clearance priced (30% off) two weeks ago. It’s now 50%. Don’t be shocked that all we have are the dregs.
 
And more image related, all our emptied aisles of summer stuff are already filling with the full fall-through-christmas mishmash; Some spoopy scary skelemans here, some pilgrims there, a bunch of ornaments over there. And having to explain to people that no the Christmas stuff is not currently on sale, and hasn’t been for the last four months.

We go straight from christmas to easter, because we get nothing for valentines and barely anything for st patrics.

Y’know, the day after New Years at my local Wal-Mart suddenly it’s Valentine’s Day. Now it’s Easter the day after V-day.
 
So it’s not just Christmas. (Heck, I saw Halloween decorations being put up in August before in some places.)

They sent my store Christmas stock at the end of September. I might not have minded so much if not for the fact that we then didn’t have room for our regular, chilled stock…
 
Also, we’re selling Christmas Mince Pies that expire at the end of October. It strikes me that if Christmas Mince Pies are not intended to last until anywhere near December then they’re not fecking “Christmas”, are they?

We had ours out for sale back in early August (because that’s when it gets sent to us, and we don’t get to actually keep stuff in the warehouse, it has to go right out onto the sales floor) and proper displays of stuff started going up in the middle of September.
 
Our Halloween stuff is probably about 60% gone at this point. That’s just how retail works with seasonal stuff. We have it out for people ahead of time so they can decorate in a timely fashion and not wait until the week before.

It was October 7th and I saw Christmas Trees and lights being sold at Fleet Farm.
 
Only thing I was thinking of was WHYYYYYYYYYYYY!?!

It’s October 12 and the Christmas commercials are coming on.  
We must stop this before it becomes Christmas in July

Good god, last year they started with the Christmas crap before October even happened. At least most of the stores waited til November this year.
 
I think Fleet Farm had Christmas trees on October 25th, but whatever…

Certainly true in my experience. Then when it becomes 12AM on 1 January we all sing Auld Lang Syne and all the Christmas and Halloween stuff (because we sure as heck still have some of the latter - always sell more in November) instantly spouts Reduced labels. Then when it becomes 12AM on 2 January, Easter starts. Fair point though, I can’t remember what we sing at that point.
