I know that the USMC is rather Unique in that it fields combined arms. And yes that white hat would be cute on her.
I know this thread is like 7 years old but screw it, the military otaku in me has committed.
Marines in almost every country that uses them are an integral part of the nation’s navy (the term marine doesn’t even exist in many languages, it’s a term for naval infantry in some languages and simply means navy in many others). Even in countries where it’s a separate branch is still under the jurisdiction of the navy, such as the United States Marine Corps and the British Royal Marines. The USMC is unique in that is that it’s currently the only marine combined arms force, meaning it incorporates infantry, artillery, cavalry and armor, aircraft, etc. It’s rank and formation structure mostly uses the same system the army used (whereas other countries marine forces, if they exist, tend to use the navy rates).
Speaking of which, Mrs. Hooves here appears to hold the enlisted rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant judging by the chevrons. That’s an E-9 on the same pay grade as a Sergeant Major. I bring this up because that’s a battalion, regiment or perhaps even division level NCO, so kinda over ranked for a platoon. Also the hash stripes on the bottom of the left sleeve indicates time in service, for the marines and navy I believe four years per stripe. So five stripes here indicates at least 20 years, which roughly adds up to the amount of time it would take to become a master gunny.
Also nitpick but I’m sure she’d look quite dapper with her cover.
Sidenote, I’ve never served but I would have liked to if I could’ve.
Edited
This ship can not hold so much coolness!
Technically we are a part of the Navy, originally, the Marines were created to be stationed on ships incase of being boarded by enemies of the States. The Navy back then didn’t get trained for close combat, just to work a part of their ship, so that being said, the Marines are an off branch of the Navy. Same goes for Coast Guard.
Oh i get ya.
I know that! I’m just sayin’ that the anchors made me think “navy” :q
wuht? Marines aren’t part of the navy. The USMC is an entirely different branch of the DOD.
Anchor pins got me Xp
I don’t mean to humiliate you, but that is a marine blue dress A uniform
Aaaaand now I look like an idiot because I didn’t take more than three seconds to realize that’s a navy uniform, not AF :p
