None of them displayed remorse or qualities that might render them redeemable. Even Sunset and Lulamoon got one or two moments.

Fun Fact: There was no redemption scene. They ran off broken and powerless.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

So, are they like a thousand years old or what? They were banished by Starswirl and are still around when Twilight showed up, but they don’t really act like people who have been alive for a thousand years of human history.

i’d recommend a comic mini-series tie-in about the dazzlings redemption arc (it’ll free the movie of the screen time for the dazzlings and instead be used on who the main antagonist would be) but unless the writer/s would be the same ones as the one in EG3, it might not sync and would be useless. that and some fans don’t treat the comics as canon.

logically a redemption arc is the most obvious for them to take the dazzlings, unless they make them allies/lackeys to the antagonist in the third movie.

question: adagio knows equestrian magic’s been introduced but she doesn’t know about the portal yes? i think it’ll be interesting that she knew (and could’ve gone anytime she wanted) but she wanted to drain the EG world first so in case starswirl is still around (so she assumes), they’d have enough power to resist (no use going through then be just sent back immediately). I wanted to make a scene where adagio breaks down right after the movie but it feels silly to have her just want to go home then the way to go there was just right there.

I think we had enough redeemed villains for quite a while, therefore I’m glad that the Dazzlings stayed evil. Plus, I’m very certain that this wasn’t the last we’ve seen of them.

missing string
No need to do a redemption scene, their souls got ripped to pieces.
Also it is likely they will just starve to death now.

Yes, that definitely should be a long story. But instead of a hint about this we’ve got a Human Twilight. Yes, this is also cool. But 70-min movie just can’t contain sirens and human Twilight at the same time (only if they cutted off Humane5 and real Twi). And how sirens just run away. Things tell me: screenwriters now want get rid off of them. Makes me really sad.

I loved the Sirens. Sunset Shimmer was my top for that movie, but the Sirens held the next slots firmly. I couldn’t give them those if I didn’t feel anything. I thought they were amazing, and I wanted to know more about their histories and motivations. Just the fact that their primary motive seemed to be ‘to be loved’, doesn’t that just put out a world of possibility? It certainly suggested some sort of sad history. So yes, I feel tons of compassion for them, and wish I knew more of their story.

It doesn’t matter. That and my opinions on their redemption are two different matters entirely. Hell, even comparing it to Sunset’s, she was young and felt jilted and jealous, driving her to places she hadn’t been before, so a quicker redemption, okay. But the Sirens have been at their work for years and years, probably centuries, and throughout the movie it felt it. They were practiced and precise, and knew what they were doing through it all. Redeeming them would take more than the movie could possibly have allowed for, and I’d honestly feel a little cheated if they had a whole movie dedicated to nothing but.

So that’s why I don’t think their lack of redemption was due to rushing - more due to it being completely infeasible with their characters and what their backstory implies. Not out of a lack of sympathy, but because I feel it would be a betrayal to what their characters were in the story. I don’t want such a simple redemption for them because I feel for them, and I don’t want those feelings to be treated so lightly.
