It’s called good characterization. In the second movie she is aware of how bad she is and others think of her and meekly tries to become a good person but sees herself as below the level of her friends to intervien in their arguments. Really I was surprised b how good they made her charcherrazation,it seemed more mature than one would expect for a little girls movie.

I would love to see Sunset Shimmer back in Equestria (and make an appearance in the series). Maybe like how human Twilight/Scilight appeared at the very end of the movie, human Sunset might show up as well within the next movie. I’m guessing that you can’t meet yourself from another dimension or otherwise both dimensions could rip apart or something (not the simple explanation of Twilight about it being just confusing). If that would be the case, than pony Sunset probably has to return to Equestria as well.
 
Hehe it’s really odd how my dislike for her in the first movie disappeared all at once after the second movie.
