I’d argue that Lunars are closer than Solars with the devotion to Luna and being predators themselves (and the active-camo-like shadow step). As for solar/royal guards… “how dare you compare those toothpick wielding, tin foil wrapped marshmallows to [Sangheili warriors]!

I find it beautiful that in the sangheli military (and to an extent the covenant as a whole) colour denotes rank.

I actually had some ideas for fanon pony weapons that use magitek, and were more or less inspired by the Covenant weapons. I mean did you ever stop to notice that the predominant color scheme for pony “tech” is even pink, purple, light blue, gold and white? Like Twilight’s castle for instance, and Canterlot Castle even has those smooth-ish curves in its design that a lot of covie architecture has.

Please use halo (series) if you’re talking about the games rather than the object.

Royal guards are royal guards. They got hired and just stand in one spot all day with the occasional pulling carriage for the Princesses. Absolutely useless whenever there is an emergency, with or without a villain encountering them directly.
 
And Elites are Elites. They are pretty much the backbone of the entire Covenant, already there when the Covenant alliance was founded. They are by all mean superior to a normal human and will whoop your ass. The games tend to made them look weaker than they really are, even without the fact that you played as a Spartan most of the time (who by all mean NOT a “normal” human). Unlike the the Grunts’ stupidity and the Brutes’…well, brute; Elites are natural warrior with actual combat skill.

Yeah. Don’t forget that the Sangheli were farmers turned elite warriors over centuries if not millennia of religious suppression.

Except Elites are competent warriors and will put you down quick if you aren’t careful.

They’ll eventually break ranks with Equestria and side with humanity when they find out that Starswirl’s unfinished spell was originally meant to cause the extinction of life to prevent the Smooze from consuming all.
