My headcanon is that the rest of the Mane Six went with Fluttershy’s solution in the end at least partly for the sake of making her feel better after the whole Flutterbat incident.

This episode gets a bit too much hate. It’s one of those episodes where most of it is at least decent (with a few really good moments) until the end. The whole, Fluttershy was right, deal did kinda sucked due to a single glaring plothole: AJ already had a colony of regular fruit bats on her orchard. She had all the benefits of bats from a far less intrusive type of bat. Also due to the fact that saying the vampire fruit bats will stick to one part of the orchard and not destroy everything is like saying parasprites will only stick to one area. Oh, and the fact that Fluttershy wouldn’t use the stare on the bats but had no issue using it on chickens to get back into their coop…
 
Okay, everything about this episode that wasn’t just twisting facts to make sure Fluttershy came out on top as the right one was good.
